MOSES LAKE — A 13-year-old Moses Lake boy was bit on the nose by a pit bull in Knolls Vista Park Thursday in Moses Lake.

The boy was at the park and saw a boy he knew from school, Moses Lake police reported Friday. The fellow schoolmate was walking a pit bull in the park.

“He approached the kid and asked if he could pet the dog,” police reported. “The dog was on a leash. As he leaned down to pet the dog, it bit him on the bridge of the nose, causing a small laceration. The laceration required two stitches.”

The boy was treated at Pioneer Medical Center.

Police advised the parents of the boy that the dog would be taken to the Grant County Animal Outreach animal shelter for a 10-day quarantine once it is located.

When a dog bites a human it is placed in quarantine while police investigate and to determine the dog’s medical history.
