RENTON — Two weeks remain in the Washington high schools’ football post season and even though teams from Moses Lake are no longer involved, it doesn’t mean playoff action won’t be a part of the landscape this upcoming weekend.

It was announced on Monday from the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) that Moses Lake High School will play host to a Class 1A semifinal game on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Connell (12-0) will take on an upstart Chelan (6-5) squad that is riding the high of a three-game winning streak into the contest.

It was Chelan that upset Royal 40-25 in the first round behind the play of freshman quarterback Michael Amsel whose play since becoming a member of the varsity team has led to the team’s turnaround from a 2-3 start.

Last week they defeated Omak 27-22 to set up the contest with Connell.

The Eagles have only allowed four teams to score in double figures this season, outscoring opponents 492-100.

They come in off of successful playoff wins over Cascade (34-14) and River View (42-7).

Ticket prices for high school students with a valid ASB card and senior citizens are $7 while admission for adults is $9.
