Edward Aaron Ball

| November 24, 2009 8:00 PM

Edward Aaron Ball, of Quincy, born November 3, 1929 in Viola, Kansas to Sidney and Lucinda (Elliot) Ball, passed away on November 20, 2009.

Dad started life out on a Kansas farm in the year of the Great Depression.  During the Second World War, his older brothers joined the armed forces leaving young Ed to work on the farm alongside his father and grandfather.  In 1946 the family migrated to Spokane, Washington where Dad had a stellar high school football career.  It was also where he met our mother, Marilyn Newcombe, whom he married on November 18th, 1950.  As young marrieds, they moved to Lewiston, Idaho where they worked on a cattle ranch and started their family.  Following a brief stay in St. Maries, Idaho they moved to Harrington, WA to work on another cattle ranch.  In 1964 we came to the Quincy valley where Dad started out working for the local Case dealer and also started farming on his own.  Mom and Dad worked side by side on the farm until just a couple of years ago.  Dad had a passion for working the ground and he loved football.  Many a cold night was spent on the sidelines of the Quincy High School football field cheering on his favorite team.   Horses and cattle were always a big part of his life as well; there were always a few head of cattle in the pasture and a barn full of horses.

Dad is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, daughters Connie (Mike) Kline of Ritzville and Karen (Chris) Vizena of Quincy, grandson Kevin (Becky) Kline and granddaughters Cailee and Hayden of San Diego.  Brothers Frank (Helen) of Moscow, Idaho and Robert (Margaret) of Denver, Co plus numerous nieces and nephews.  Also surviving him at home is his little buddy, Mickey.

Please join us for a celebration of Dad’s life at the home of Chris and Karen Vizena, 11286 Martin Road NW, Saturday, November 28 at 2:00 pm.
