Norma Norine Engles

Norma Norine Engles, 89, died Saturday November 21, 2009 at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA.

Norma was born on May 30, 1920 in Delhi, Iowa, to Roy and Arlice (Bartlett) Andrews.  She graduated from high school in Delhi.  She met Merl Engles in high school; they married on November 9, 1940 in Keoka, Missouri.  They settled in Iowa until moving to Pierce County, WA, settling in the Puyallup area in 1944.  In 1951 the family moved to the Yakima Valley and then to Othello in 1954.  Norma went to work with the School District as a cook, a job she enjoyed until she retired in 1985.

Norma had many enjoyments in her life; creating ceramic dolls, sewing, any craft work and playing cards, Bridge, Pinochle, hearts and later u-no with her grandchildren.  Her passion was her family.  Having the grand and great grandchildren around always madder her happy.  She was active in the Methodist Church and later attended the First Baptist Church in Othello.

She was preceded in death by her husband Merl, and her parents.  She is survived by her son Bill (Becky) Engles of Othello, her daughter Heather Maloy of Puyallup, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

A time for final visitation has been set aside at Stevens Funeral Chapel on Monday November 23 beginning at 4:00 until 7:00 PM and a celebration of her life will be held at the chapel on Tuesday November 24, 2009 at 11:00 with burial to follow at the Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.
