Donna Fay Donley
On November 18, 2009, we lost our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Donna Fay Donley was born on May 17, 1936 in Ontario, Oregon. She was the only child of J.A.“Bud” and Lucille Young. Donna’s father was in the construction business and they moved often. Donna attended 13 schools in 12 years. They settled in Othello where she met Richard Donley. They married September 1, 1954, in the Othello Presbyterian Church and have been members ever since.
Dick worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, where they made many friends. Even this year, they attended the yearly picnic in Montana.
Donna was involved with many groups in Othello. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and collection train memorabilia. She and Dick loved visiting with everyone they met during their trips to Missouri or just doing their daily errands. Her favorite topic was her loving grandson, Garrett, with whom she talked to daily on the phone.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard, her daughter Dana (Roy) Slate, her son, Dean Donley, and her grandson, Garrett Slate. She also leaves behind Missouri cousins and numerous dear friends.
An amazingly resilient woman, Donna was diagnosed with carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater in January of 2008 and fought her battle gracefully and courageously. Those who loved her are better for it, but will have a huge hole in their heart. We miss her already.
A memorial service for Donna will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church in Othello.
In loving memory of Donna, please send your donations, in her name, to the Othello Cancer Support Group, 830 Meadowlark Lane, Othello, WA 99344 or to the ‘General Fund’ of the First Presbyterian Church of Othello.
