WATCH PRICES
My wife and I recently had a week’s vacation in Waikiki, Hawaii. It’s beautiful and every thing it’s promised to be. It was our birthday (62) gift to us. Something and someplace for everyone’s pocket book, homeless to mega wealthy. Which brings me to my visit to a high end wristwatch (Chronometer) boutique shop near the Royal Hawaiian and Hilton Village hotels. With some trepidation, — I wear a $10 Kmart watch with faux diamond — I spied a huge Liberace or Elton John style diamond and gold encrusted watch. I held in my hand $78,000. “Is it the most expensive?” I asked. “No, I’ll show you that next,” the reply. A large masterpiece of craftsmanship with multiple dials and buttons was laid out on fine velvet to behold. $228,000. Wow, I was impressed. Who could afford to wear the price of a nice home on their wrist? Then I remembered our nation is full of Goldman Sachs style bankers, healthcare and others on the government payroll and sweetheart deals. I had just made poor career choices.
