Business taking donations for soldiers
MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake business is helping the 1161st Family Readiness Group fill 229 Christmas stockings for soldiers serving in Iraq.
HealthSource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab is helping the group collect gifts from Monday until Friday for the Ephrata-based National Guard company. The business is located at 420 W Third Ave. in Moses Lake. The company was sent to Iraq in March.
Angela Burns, a HealthSource employee, said they became involved when a patient came to them and asking for a donation. Along with a donation, Gregg Jones, the Moses Lake director of HealthSource, decided to help collect gifts.
“I thought HealthSource could do much more,” he stated. “These men and women will be away from their families for the holidays serving everybody in this country. HealthSource wants to help make sure that their Christmas is the best possible.”
The company previously sent close to 200 DVDs to the soldiers serving in Iraq. Burns said it’s a nice way to show the area supports them.
“It was wanting to do something special,” she said. “We’ll have something set up for people to drop off the items. If you just come into the office and say, ‘I read about the stockings you’re doing for the soldiers and I just want to drop this off.’ Then there you go.”
Any items which can fit inside of a stocking will be accepted. Some suggested items are: Inexpensive watches, books, magazines, travel games, CDs, DVDs, beef sticks, lip balm, batteries, postcards, coffee, etc.
