Finding LakeTown Landing

MOSES LAKE — The full borders of LakeTown Landing were revealed last week when the Moses Lake Business Association released a map of the area.

Stretching from Broadway Avenue to Fifth Avenue, and Pioneer Way to the edge of Dogwood Avenue, LakeTown Landing includes more than 175 Moses Lake businesses.

“That’s really kind of a fact that’s almost a little bit mind blowing,” said business association Executive Director Marianne Bondi.

The map was inspired by public questions to Bondi and business owners about what is included in LakeTown Landing.

Some people believe LakeTown Landing is confined to Third Avenue, Bondi said.

“Third Avenue is a very vital part … but it does take in more than just one road,” she said.

The map is online under the downloads tab at www.mlbacares.org.

Retail, convenience stores, professional businesses, restaurants and government services are all part of LakeTown Landing.

“There’s a little bit of everything inside,” Bondi said. One of the goals of the Moses Lake Business Association is to promote LakeTown Landing, she said.

The establishment of LakeTown Landing was an idea of Destination Development, Inc.

The business association, City of Moses Lake and Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce decided where the borders would be, Bondi said.

She said downtown business vitality is linked with a sense of community.

“As you keep a strong core of downtown, then your community is strong,” she said.

The Third Avenue portion of LakeTown Landing is fully occupied, with the exception of an empty storefront left when Fae’s Books & Crafts moved and a former JCPenney building, Bondi said.

New businesses opened in LakeTown Landing as well, she said.

“I think in the economy that’s been a little bit stressed, we’ve actually had some new businesses open up,” she said.
