Warren Lee 'Spud' Valentine

Warren Lee “Spud” Valentine was born on the 17th of September, 1951 in Seattle.

The Valentine family, parents, Warren “Val” and Anne, sisters, Laura and Jane and Spud moved to Moses Lake before Spud started school, so he attended Moses Lake Schools from Kindergarten through his High School Graduation in 1970. Spud was a “jock” excelling in football and baseball, even being scouted for the Oakland A’s. A good student, Spud attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, majoring in psychology and minoring in mathematics.

Spud came home to Moses Lake and went to work in the construction trades finishing concrete. Spud loved cooking, baking bread and making pickles, feeding an “army’ was his specialty, sharing the kitchen with his best friend and wife, Julia Johnson. His cat, Mookie, allowed Spud to be her best friend. Spud loved everybody and everybody who knew Spud loved him.

Spud passed away on October 31, 2009 and is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jared.

Surviving Spud are his wife, Julia, his sisters Laura Beers and Jane Valentine, nephew Kelly Jo, niece, Tracy, and so many life long friends.

A celebration of Spud’s life will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 beginning at 3:00 PM at Benson’s Funeral Home, 104 W 5th Avenue, Moses Lake. Mark Benson will be officiating; coffee refreshments and fellowship following.
