Dwight Joseph DuVall
Dwight Joseph DuVall, 66, longtime Moses Lake resident, went to be with our Lord on November 1, 2009 (All Saints Day).
Funeral services for Dwight start Friday night, 6:00 p.m., November 13th, with the rosary. Mass is at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Moses Lake, WA, on Saturday, November 14th; with burial at the Columbarium at the Church, following Mass.
The family requests that mass attendees wear a white garment, a shirt, sweater, or top, to represent the white garment Christians wear when they receive the Sacrament of Baptism, to wash away the stain of original sins at the beginning of life. The white garment also symbolizes the pall, the white covering over the funeral casket or urn, representing the pure soul, washed of their sins after receiving the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, at the end of life.

Dwight Joseph DuVall, the third child of Forrest and Esther DuVall, was born February 11, 1943, in Bellingham, WA. He joined his brother, Robert, presently living in Longview, WA; and sister, Beverly, presently living in Concord, CA. Three years later, his family moved to Longview, WA, where they lived in a tent while Dad built them a house. Dwight attended St Rose Catholic School, first through eighth grade, and graduated from R.A. Long High School, in 1961. He attended Lower Columbia Junior College and then transferred to the Washington State University School of Pharmacy, the class of 1968.
Dwight married his wife, Carolyn Carvo, of Moses Lake, WA, while in college. They moved to Oregon and then returned to Moses Lake, where he worked at Gene Helmbolts’ Drugstore for several years, until they purchased a pharmacy in Royal City, WA. Dwight was active in the Royal Slope Chamber of Commerce, several years as an officer. He also was a long-time volunteer of the Grant County Fire District #10 fire department and was an EMT. Dwight served as a member of the Grant County Hospital Board. Dwight closed the pharmacy in 1994, for health reasons, moving from a 60/80 hour work week to 40 hours.
He was a staff pharmacist at the Moses Lake Safeway Pharmacy for several years, and then became head pharmacist at K-Mart until it closed. He worked for Dave’s pharmacy and then Walmart until he was medically retired in 2004, after 36 years of working as a pharmacist.
Dwight and Carolyn have five married children and eleven grandchildren: Scott and Cris, both pharmacists in Spokane, WA; Steve and Kate, with three children, both work for the State, in Moses lake, WA; Mark and Hollie, with four children, a pharmacist and a stay at home Mom, living in Moses Lake, WA; Tom and Jeni, with 2 children, both teachers, in Pasco, WA; and Kate and Mike Tobin, with two children, both pharmacists, in Spokane, WA. Dwight was especially proud of the education his children and their spouses have worked hard to attain, to support their families, and proud that so many (three children and two spouses) followed him into Pharmacy, a field he truly loved because he liked talking and working with people, helping them when they needed it.
