Poll continues, prosecutor candidates swap lead

GRANT COUNTY — Readers continue to take part in an unofficial election poll on the Columbia Basin Herald Web site.

Eight political races are being documented.

The poll indicated Grant County Prosecutor Angus Lee, Moses Lake Councilmembers Bill Ecret and Brent Reese, Mayor Ron Covey, Moses Lake Council candidate David Curnel, Moses Lake School Board candidate Pete Knittle and Ephrata Council candidate Clarke A. Morris, lead their opponents on Monday night.

Readers are given the opportunity to select candidates on the Web site at www.columbiabasinherald.com/politics.

The polls are not scientific nor do they indicate actual voting. The margin for error is unknown.

Official ballots for the general election will be counted Tuesday.

Grant County Prosecutor

Grant County Prosecutor Angus Lee leads the poll with 61 percent or 857 votes. Grant County Deputy Prosecutor Albert Lin received 39 percent of votes for the poll with 544 votes. Last week, Lin had 50 percent of the vote. One percent of voters indicated they will select a write-in candidate or no one.

Moses Lake City Council position one

Incumbent Bill Ecret leads the poll with  70 percent or 345 votes. Challenger Jason McCreary has 27 percent or 133 votes. Two percent of participants indicated they will select a write-in candidate or no one.

Moses Lake City Council position two

Incumbent Ron Covey leads the poll with  61 percent or 339 votes. Candidate Karen Liebrecht received 35 percent of the votes with 195 in her favor. Three percent of participants indicated they will select a write-in candidate or no one.

Moses Lake City Council position four

Incumbent Brent Reese leads the poll with 69 percent or 263 votes. Challenger Darrin M. Jackson has 24 percent, or 91 votes. Seven percent of voters indicated they will choose a write-in candidate or no one.

Moses Lake City Council position five

Candidate David Curnel leads the poll with 61 percent or 313 votes. Candidate Tom Hayes received 38 percent of the votes with 194 votes in his favor. One percent of participants indicated they will choose a write-in candidate or no one.

Moses Lake School Director position four

Candidate Pete Knittle leads the poll with 68 percent or 326 votes. Candidate Kevin Donovan has 32 percent, or 153 votes. Fewer than one percent of voters indicated they will select a write-in candidate or no one.

Soap Lake School Director position five

Incumbent Curtis Dotson leads the poll with 46 percent or 68 votes. Challenger Wayne Turner has 41 percent with 60 votes in his favor. Eleven percent of participants indicated they will vote for a write-in candidate or no one.

Ephrata City Council position two

Candidate Clarke A. Morris leads the poll with 58 percent or 101 votes. Incumbent Mark S. Wanke has 32 percent, or 56 votes. Ten percent of participants indicated they will selecte a write-in candidate or no one.
