Fire extinguished at REC Silicon

MOSES LAKE — A fire at REC Silicon was extinguished Tuesday morning without any reported injuries.
The fire was contained on the property and officials stated there were no chemicals released during the incident.
The Moses Lake Fire Department assisted the company’s fire brigade by providing additional breathing air tanks, according to Fire Chief Tom Taylor.
REC Silicon took safety precautions during the initial outset of the event.
The Grant County Telephone Notification System sent a message to people living near the plant as a precaution.
By noon, the employees returned to work.
The state Department of Ecology was alerted to the incident.
