WARDEN — During its annual customer appreciation day Wednesday, Skone Irrigation & Supply, Inc. got to tell its clients the latest in decreased pivot and PVC prices.

Pivot prices have dropped about 30 percent, which is where they were a year and half ago before the increase in steel prices, said Erik Skone, the company’s president.

PVC prices are the cheapest they’ve been since he’s been in business for 11 years, decreasing by about 35 percent, he added.

“It’s a great time to buy, that’s for sure,” he said.

In agriculture, “we’re in pretty good shape and fairly isolated from the recession,” Skone commented.

In fact, the business’s sale increased by a couple of percentage points, he said.

The business currently employees 17 people and numerous subcontractors, and provides pivot sales and repair.

It added pump repair as a service and supplies maintenance service for center pivots by changing pivots out and making sure they’re ready to go, he said.

Skone is a Reinke Center Pivot dealer.

Wednesday was also roughly the fourth year in a row the Warden-based business held a customer appreciation day for about 400 people.

The event was intended to say “thank you” to and give back to Skone Irrigation customers who have supported the business all year round, he said.

The event was complete with a free lunch, drawings, give-a-ways and prizes, which included a trash pump, coats and hats.

Customers hail from Warden, Moses Lake, Othello, Pasco, Reardan, Spokane, Omak and Colville.

The Warden High School FFA Club helped with the lunch preparations. The menu was hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and chips.

A large white tent was set up next to the business to shade customers from the sun while they ate.
