| May 29, 2009 9:00 PM

QUINCY — The body of a woman found floating in a canal near Quincy on May 21 was identified as 48-year-old Rebecca Fletcher, of Soap Lake.

The Grant County Coroner’s Office released the identity Thursday.

“Ms. Fletcher was reported missing on April 29, 2009, after not being seen for several days by family members,” Coroner Jerry Jasman stated. “Family members were able to identify the tattoos present on the body.”

The preliminary autopsy showed the death was consistent with drowning but the official cause and manner of death remains under investigation. It was unclear how long Fletcher’s body was in the water due to fluctuating environmental temperatures.
