Laurie W. Faulkes

| May 21, 2009 9:00 PM

Laurie W. Faulkes, 57, passed away on Friday, May 15, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Wash., after a four day stay in ICU, where he was diagnosed with melanoma. We unexpectedly said goodbye to him, our beloved brother, cherished uncle and close friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Alice Faulkes, and is survived by his three brothers and one sister, Nelson and wife Janis of Moses Lake, Albert and Vicki from Soap Lake, Ron and wife Kerri from Everett, Wash., and Lisa and husband Jeff Sooter of Snohomish, Wash., six nieces and eight nephews.

Laurie was born on Sept. 28, 1951, in Carman, Manitoba, Canada. At age 14, he moved with his family to Moses Lake, where he developed a good work ethic and a sense of responsibility by helping his parents provide janitorial services. He graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1969. He moved out with his brothers into the notorious “yellow house,” having good times with good friends.

He later became a skillful irrigation domestic well driller where he performed quality work on and off for 40 years, always guaranteeing his workmanship, but not for the promise of water.

Laurie will always be remembered as a true friend and a strong brother who was willing to lend a helping hand. Throughout his life he has made long-lasting friendships and always looked for the good in people. He was tough on the outside (with a touch of orneriness) but kind on the inside. He has touched many people with his integrity, honesty and forgiving nature. He will be missed by many.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles with Mike, snowmobiling and elk hunting in the Colockum, hanging with the Breakfast Club at The Hangout, palling around with Dan, sharing in friendly banter and, of course, letting Bill win at pool. These are only a few of the many, many cherished memories with friends.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 29, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Moses Lake Assembly of God Church, 431 E. Brown Ave., Moses Lake. Please come and help us celebrate Laurie’s life with us. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests friends may make memorial contributions in Laurie’s name to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1337, Moses Lake, WA 98837
