Daniel Gregory Hector

| May 21, 2009 9:00 PM

Daniel Gregory Hector, 21, of Ephrata, Washington, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2009, following a motorcycle accident near Moses Lake.

He was born on May 11, 1988, in Wenatchee, Washington; attended Royal (City) High School and Big Bend Community College; and was working as a mechanic for Simplot while going to school to be a math teacher.

Daniel was an avid arena and motocross racer, winning a points championship in 2007.  While Daniel loved to race his motorcycle, his true passion was racing cars.  He won his first championship in 2003 in the Youth Hornet class at the age of 15.  Twice he has received rookie of the year awards and in 2006 he won the Street Stock championship.  His dad had helped him build a Street Stock car for the 2009 season, and while Daniel only got to race his new car once, he won every race he was in. If Daniel wasn’t going fast somewhere, he was golfing or hanging out with his friends.

Every day with Daniel was a new adventure.  He was spontaneous, happy, and lived life to the fullest. He was the light of all our lives, and touched the heart of every person who knew him.  Daniel lived life without fear and always to the extreme.  If there’s a race track in heaven, Daniel will be on it.

Words cannot express how much he was loved during his short time with us, or how much he will be missed.

Daniel is survived by his parents, Bart and Lisa Hector of Othello and Ellyn and Alan Berg of Ephrata; two brothers, Eric Hector of Ephrata and Bart Hector Jr. of Othello; grandparents Lois Drennan of Ephrata, Billy Ramsey of Mississippi, Hillery Hector of Ephrata, and Charlene Hatley of Oregon; his niece Bristol Hector, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friend Brittany Russell.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 22, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. at.  Nicoles Funeral Home of Ephrata, followed by a graveside service in Ephrata and a memorial get together at the Eagles Lodge in Ephrata.
