Bergeson named all-conference

MOSES LAKE — Although Moses Lake wrapped up their 2009 boys soccer season May 9 with a 1-0 loss at Davis, the Chiefs were rewarded for their efforts this season with four all-conference selections.

Moses Lake senior defender Isac Bergeson led the Chiefs in postseason accolades, earning the school’s only first-team selection for his defensive play.

Junior midfielder Devin Petersen was Moses Lake’s lone second-team selection.

The Chiefs earned a pair of honorable-mention selections in defender Juan Villasenor and midfielder Alex Alcantar.

Moses Lake finished the season with a 6-7 Columbia Basin Big Nine record, earning a trip to the district playoffs.

Santana leads SCAC selections

WARDEN — After helping lead a relatively young Cougars soccer team to a third-place finish in the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) East Division standings, Warden senior Miguel Angel Santana was named the SCAC’s Most Valuable Player.

Santana also was a first-team selection at defender for the Cougars.

Royal senior Roman Trujillo was a first-team defender and senior Matias Marmelejo was a first-team selection at midfielder.

The Knights had three second-team selections in Johnathan Ocampo (defender), Luis Esquivel (Midfielder), and Shaq Ledezma (forward).

Warden also had three second-team selections in Martin Aguilar (goalie), Mario Landeros (midfielder), and Hector Camacho (forward).
