BRIDGEPORT, Wash. — The Columbia Basin Secondary School (CBSS) boys and girls track teams traveled to Bridgeport, Wash., Friday afternoon and returned with a pair of championships.

The CBSS boys and girls teams each won the District Six 1B League Championship.

Junior Josh Conner helped lead the Phoenix boys team to victory, claiming four individual titles in the process. Conner won the 100-, 200-, 400-, and 800-meter races for CBSS. Conner will head into the regional track meet with a state-best performance in the 400 meters.

CBSS’ Eric Curtiss won the high jump, 110-meter hurdles and the 1,600 meters, and Chris Knorr won the triple jump. Dan Kennedy, Ed Bernier and Brandon Sutter also helped push the Phoenix to victory.

The Lady Phoenix had three participants combine to capture five individual titles. Ciara Wilson won titles in the discus, 400 meters, and 100 meters while Cyrstal Lloyd won the 1,600 meters. Randi Bechyne claimed the crown in the javelin and finished second behind Wilson in the discus.

CBSS head coach Lanny Ledeboer said he was proud of both of his teams’ performance Friday at the district meet.

“We went to the meet hoping to win the boys’ trophy for the second year in a row, and surprise, we came home with both,” he said.

The CBSS teams will travel to the regional meet Friday afternoon in Kittitas, Wash. at 3 p.m.
