KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Moses Lake Chiefs were eliminated from the postseason Friday afternoon following a 6-0 loss to the Kamiakin Braves.

Moses Lake got just four hits Friday afternoon — two coming off of the bat of Dylan Signorelli — and the Chiefs couldn’t find an answer for Kamiakin starting pitcher Kody Young, Moses Lake head coach Ed McNamara said.

“(Young) was just on and we were just plain off,” he said. “When we could finally get something going we would have two outs.”

Young struck out nine Chiefs Friday and the Braves were able to capitalize on five Moses Lake errors to advance to the regional tournament.

Kamiakin was able to jump on Moses Lake for a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning and the Chiefs couldn’t recover.

Moses Lake senior starting pitcher Brock Lybbert went the distance for the Chiefs on the mound and struck out five Braves, McNamara said.

“Lybbert pitched a great game,” he said. “He just didn’t have a lot of help behind him.”

Although Lybbert got the loss in his final start for the Chiefs, he was only carged with one earned run.

“Our defense struggled a little bit,” McNamara said. “We had five errors. It wasn’t the type of ball we had been playing all year.”

The Chiefs wrapped up their season with a 15-8 record, a trip to the postseason, and nine different Chiefs were named to All-Columbia Division teams.

McNamara, who was named the division’s coach of the year, said he is humbled by the award.

“It is quite an honor when the coaches you are competing against pick you coach of the year,” he said.
