WASHINGTON, D.C. — Grant PUD External Affairs Director Andrew Munro officially started his one-year term this week as president of the National Hydropower Association.

“I’m very proud to take the reins from the 2008-09 NHA President Rick Miller,” Munro stated.  “With hydro’s recognition in the stimulus plan and increased funding for waterpower research in the federal government, Rick and his team have made great strides in securing hydropower’s role in our energy, environmental, and economic policies.”

In his acceptance speech, Munro said his goals are to “double the total megawatts of new hydropower projects pending at FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) by 2012, double the number of jobs created by the hydropower industry by 2012 and double U.S. hydropower capacity by 2025.”

Other new officers are: vice president, John Dulude, Normandeau Associates, Inc., treasurer, Gregory Lewis, Duke Energy Corporation and secretary, David Moller, Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
