Leona Elizabeth Loewen

Leona Elizabeth Loewen, 84, of Moses Lake, went home to be with her Lord in heaven on Saturday, May 2, 2009, surrounded by her family.

Lee was born on May 11, 1924, in Black Duck, Minn. She grew up on the family farm with her five brothers and one sister. She attended high school in Grand Rapids, Minn. There she met her husband Cliff Loewen. They were married on Dec. 7, 1945. After Cliff was discharged from the Army, they started their family, eventually moving to Othello, where they raised their three children. Lee worked for several business as a bookkeeper, and opened the first Sears store, which thy ran for 11 years. In 1989, Lee moved to So. Lake Tahoe, Calif., where she helped operate the Bavarian Village Vacation Condos with her daughter’s family. In 2007, Lee moved back to her home in Moses Lake.

Lee enjoyed bowling, playing cards with family and friends and traveling. She went on several trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Minnesota and New York. She was a life long member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church and a faithful follower of Christ.

Lee is survived by her three children, Arlene Parke of Moses Lake, Russell and Denise Loewen, also of Moses Lake, and Marilyn Beer of So. Lake Tahoe, Calif.; five grandchildren, Mike, Rob, Jarred, Matthias and Mark; three great-grandchildren, Mickaylie, Caleb and Kylie; her sister-in-law Betty Brice, nephew John and niece Melanie, and their families of Othello.

Lee was absolutely the best mom a family could have. She was a tireless worker and a very caring and giving mother and grandmother. She was a precious gift from God and we were all blessed by her presence in our lives. Thank you Jesus for Mama Lee.

Memorial services for Lee will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Moses Lake Assembly of God, 431 E. Brown, with Pastor Ryan Simmons officiating.
