Othello hosting public hearings today

| May 11, 2009 9:00 PM

OTHELLO — Othello City Council is holding two public hearings today at 7 p.m. at city hall.

The first public hearing is intended for the council to hear testimony about the six-year transportation improvement program.

The city will provide information about what roadways are scheduled for repair and where funding is allocated.

The second public hearing is to accept input about a grant that was awarded to the Othello Police Department.

The department plans to use the $13,587 grant to purchase laptop computers for the patrol vehicles. Before receiving the funding, the city is required to listen to public testimony in case citizens believe the money should be spent for a different purpose within the department.
