MOSES LAKE — The 2009 Babe Ruth World Series Task Force will meet at the Holiday Inn Express in Moses Lake tonight to discuss planning for the World Series baseball tournament to be held at Larson Playfield Aug. 15 through Aug. 22.

Members of the World Series Task Force will gather tonight to discuss responsibilities for the tournament, said Babe Ruth World Series Tournament co-Director and Task Force Chairman Randy Boruff.

“If people are interested in working at the World Series, they can certainly start showing up at our meetings,” he said.

While the task force is looking for volunteers for the August event, Boruff said participant housing is still a priority.

“We still need housing,” he said. “Once we get the housing resolved it will relieve some of (the pressure) on our task force members.”

Boruff said the task force is approximately one team away from completing its housing goal.

“I think we need about seven or eight homes,” he said.

In addition to participant housing and volunteers, Boruff said the task force will begin narrowing down responsibilities.

“We will be talking about special events and we will start to zero in on making sure that everything is being covered,” he said.

Tonight’s meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express on East Kittelson in Moses Lake.
