NEW YORK — A former Moses Lake woman and her fiance won $16,000 on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” Wednesday night.

The program aired as part of the Wedding Week segment on KHQ television in Spokane.

Brandee Graff, 41, and James Wolfe, 41, live in New York.

Graff grew up in Moses Lake and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1984 before making her way to New York where she pursued an acting career. She will soon begin teaching special education.

The television game show is trivia based, with each successful question providing more money to contestants.

When Graff and Wolfe made it to the $25,000 question, they used their “Phone-A-Friend” lifeline.

The question was, “What nineties romantic comedy begins with the line, ‘I used to think a wedding was a simple affair.’”

Their choices were “Runaway Bride,” “Betsy’s Wedding,” “Father of the Bride” and “Muriel’s Wedding.”

The couple called a friend, who was unable to help.

They had one lifeline left called “Double Dip,” requiring the couple to pick a wrong answer.

They chose not to use the final lifeline because if they failed, they would have only won $1,000 instead of $16,000.

The couple choose to stop and walk away with $16,000.

The correct answer was “Father of the Bride.”

Graff and Wolfe also got an unexpected surprise when the Conservancy Gardens, in Central Park in New York, granted her wish and scheduled her wedding for Sept. 19.

Once the conservancy heard of her hope and participation on the show, they made her dream come true.
