Chiefs senior leads All-Star team to victory

PASCO, Wash. — After helping lead the Chiefs to a sixth-place finish at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) 4A girls state basketball tournament, Moses Lake senior Carly Noyes helped the Tri-City All-Star team to victory with an MVP-winning performance at the Media Classic All-Star game Saturday in Pasco.

Noyes was the Columbia Basin Big Nine (CBBN) Columbia Division Player of the Year and helped lead the Tri-City All-Star team to an impressive 87-73 victory over the All-Star team from Yakima.

The Tri-City All-Star team battled with the Yakima All-Star team throughout the first half of Saturday’s Media Classic before Noyes and her Tri-City teammates managed to grab a 47-43 lead heading into the break.

After taking a four-point lead into the locker room, the Tri-City team was able to jump on the Yakima All-Star team to start the second half. The Tri-City team outscored Yakima 8-5 to start the second on their way to a 55-48 lead.

With the Tri-City All-Stars holding a seven-point advantage nearly five minutes in to the second half, Prosser senior and Central Washington Athletic Conference co-Player of the Year Lacie French hit a 3-point basket from the corner to help Yakima pull within 55-51.

Although French managed to help Yakima close the gap with 15 minutes left in the contest, the Tri-City team went on a game-clinching 21-6 run over the next 7:45 to put the game out of reach.

Noyes, who will take her skills on the court to Washington State University next season, led the Tri-City All-Star team to victory with team-high 14 points. Noyes was rewarded for her efforts, earning the game’s Most Valuable Player award.

In addition to her CBBN Columbia Division Player of the Year award, Noyes was also chosen to represent Washington in the Washington-Oregon Senior All-Star game April 18 in Portland, Ore.

With Noyes wrapping up her high school basketball career, the 6-foot-5 senior played her last high school basketball game with Moses Lake teammate and sophomore Jordan Loera at the Media Classic.

Loera was the second Moses Lake Chiefs player selected to play in the Media Classic and she finished with six points. Loera was instrumental in Moses Lake’s run through the playoffs, earning a first team all-tournament selection at the WIAA 4A state tournament at the Tacoma Dome.
