Moses Lake woman competes for wedding

MOSES LAKE — A former Moses Lake woman competed on a wedding theme episode of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.”
Brandee Graff, 41, grew up in Moses Lake and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1984, but her life took her to New York, where she found success acting in several TV commercials and appearing on the popular television game show.
She is on television again on March 24 and March 25 on KHQ, starting at 6:30 p.m., but this time with her fiance James Wolfe, 41, New York as they compete for the wedding of their dreams by answering trivia questions from TV program host Meredith Vieira.
Although Brandee is not allowed to release many details about the outcome of the program, she said it was both nerve racking and fun at the same time.
“We ended up just having the best time,” she said. “It was a really exciting, amazing, once in a lifetime thing.”
They first learned about the opportunity when James was ?looking online to apply to compete by himself on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.” He noticed there was an option for engaged couples to compete on the show during a wedding week segment. So they applied.
“I never thought we’d be picked,” Brandee said.
Ever since she moved to New York, her favorite place to visit is the Conservancy Gardens in Central Park. She dreamed of getting married there but obtaining reservations for the hot spot are next to impossible.
When representatives from the Conservancy Gardens heard of the couple’s hope of getting married there as a result of the TV program, they made her dream come true. They will be married in the gardens Sept. 19.
Brandee and James have been a couple for roughly three years. He popped the question while on a mountain hiking trip a year and a half ago. He proposed using his mother’s ring.
Despite the courtship, the two have never lived together. Brandee said if the show reveals they win, they hope to not only fund the perfect wedding, but also want to buy an apartment in New York City.
Brandee plans to begin teaching special education courses and James works as a projectionist.
She said her entire family still lives in Moses Lake and the surrounding area. Brandee added everyone is anticipating watching for the outcome of the show, especially her grandmother in Kennewick, Wash.
