Clayton C. Larkin

| March 16, 2009 9:00 PM

Clayton C. Larkin, 88, of Moses Lake, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, in Sand Ridge Home Care in Moses Lake.

Clayton was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Superior, Wisc., to Coleman J. and Matilda (Warner) Larkin.

Clayton will be fondly remembered for his love and zeal for life, his family and friends. Right after graduating from high school, he served honorably in the U.S. Army. He had a very special relationship with his daughters; he was so respectful, loving and caring to them. He was also so proud of his five grandsons; they meant so much to him. Clayton loved baseball. He told the story of how he and two of his friends were waiting outside of Yankee Stadium, and a taxicab carrying Babe Ruth pulled up, dropped Babe off and he threw a cigar stub on the ground while getting out and walking into the stadium. Clayton and his two friends dove for the cigar and Clayton came up with it! He was so proud of that, and enjoyed sharing the story with his friends and family. He also enjoyed dancing, music, swimming, and clowning around with his family and friends. He loved to eat breakfast at the Eagles and will miss them and their love.

Clayton is survived by his daughter Kathleen Pollock of Moses Lake; grandsons Scott Rockwood, David (Emily) Rockwood and great-granddaughter Sloan Rockwood, of Kirkland, Wash.; Aaron Van Sant, of Phoenix, Ariz., Ryan Pollock and Patrick Pollock, of Seattle; sister Lavonne Williams, of Edmonds, Wash., special friend Herb Wood of Moses Lake and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margret Mary Larkin, daughter Colene Mary Rockwood, his parents Coleman and Matilda Larkin.

Clayton’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Herb Wood for all of your help and love, to Penny Weber for her help and support, and especially to Shawna and Jeremy Davis and girls at Sand Ridge Home Care for their special attention, devoted care and love for Clayton.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Hoffner, Fisher and Harvey Funeral Home, 508 N. 36th St., Seattle, on Monday, March 16. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, in Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, Wash.
