Dennis Lee Umland

Dennis’ life was cut short on March 2, 2009.

He was born to Yvonne and Larry Umland in Minneapolis, Minn., on Jan. 14, 1951. Dennis moved with his family to the Warden area in 1974. He worked as a truck driver and at various farms. Dennis loved to go fishing with his grandson, play pool and have a good beer with friends. Dennis was well known for his “tall” tales and his fun-loving attitude.

He was preceded in death by both his parents and one sister.

Dennis was survived by his daughter, Holly Marie Sletager, and grandchildren Eddy and DaniLynn of Spokane, step-dad Larry Bayles, brother Lt. Commander Jaye Bayles, U.S. Navy, his brother IP Commander Coast Guard Aux Ron Umland, sisters Lorna (Tad) Drury, Othello, Diane (Buzz) Stacy, Warden, and Donna (Ray) Nelson, Moses Lake.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Warden at 1017 S. Grant St., at 2 p.m. A small get together to share stories about Denny will follow after the memorial service at the Corral Restaurant in Warden.
