Mary I. Zeppenfield

| March 5, 2009 8:00 PM

Mary Zeppenfield was born in Spokane on Oct. 12, 1920.

Mary passed from this life to the next March 2, 2009, with her son at her side.

Mary attended and received her diploma of graduation from Marycliff High School in Spokane, May 31, 1937. She married Fredrick William Zeppenfield in May 1945. They resided in Spokane until she, Fred and family moved to Moses Lake in 1963.

As a long time resident of Moses Lake, Mary worked for Harrington’s Restaurant as a waitress and cook, for John L. Lewis (attorney) as a housekeeper and chef, for Jack’s Bargain Barn as a waitress and eventually in charge of the restaurant, and she also worked in the Jack’s Bargain Barn Bakery, to name a few.

Mary’s favorite pastime was bowling here in Moses Lake. She participated in many women’s and mixed doubles leagues as well as the Women’s Traveling League with her daughter Sandy.

In 1985, Mary retired. At that time she had been working in the bakery at Jack’s Bargain Barn. After one year, and not liking retirement, Mary went back to work at the Moses Lake Senior Center where she worked another 11 years, retiring again in 1997.

After her second retirement, Mary was a volunteer at the Samaritan Hospital information desk, Pioneer Medical Center information desk and the Senior Center. She also enjoyed reading scripture at church services and at the Hearthstone Retirement Inn. Mary was also involved at TOPS and the Red Hat Society, which she very much enjoyed with all the other members.

Mary’s son Jack and daughter Sandy survive her now, but they will never forget the care and support of their mother.

Mary is also survived by her granddaughters Tobie Page with her husband Darron, Allison Korthuis with her husband Travis, Michele Gentry with her husband Wendell, her great-granddaughters Britnee Page, Kylee Page, Leah Kelley, Lindsey Kelley, and her great grandson: Torrie Kelley.

Mary was preceded in death by her son Rusty and husband Fred.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Building Fund or the Moses Lake Senior Center.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Saturday, in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Felipe Pulido, Celebrant. Private inurnment will immediately follow the services.
