Dorothy Jean West
Dorothy Jean West went to her eternal rest on Feb. 24, 2009.
Dorothy was born to Glen Ivan and Mabel (Lemon) Smith on Sept. 17, 1918, at the home of her grandparents in Centralia, Wash. She graduated from Issaquah High School in 1936 and moved to Seattle where she worked for Pacific Bell Telephone. In 1942, she transferred to San Francisco where she worked for the company at Letterman General Hospital. It was there that she met Merle C. (Windy) West, a soldier from Chelan, Wash. They were married at the Presidio Chapel in San Francisco on Nov. 24, 1944. Windy and Dorothy moved to Cheney and in 1950 relocated to Moses Lake.
Dorothy is survived by four children, son Steve (Nancy), daughter Kim, son Bill (Lucinda) all of Moses Lake and son Scott (Patti) in the U.S. Army; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Jerimiah) Smith, Amy and Emily West, Stacie and Rachel West, Donna (Larry) Lytle, Andrew (Michele) Sonnenberg and Alicia West; five great-grandchildren, Windy and Erich Scriven, Jack Day, James Sonnenberg and Kyle Lytle. She is also survived by her beloved sister Helen Wilson of Arizona and a large loving and caring extended family and friends including her special friends at Chestnut Grove Senior Apartments.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Windy, her parents, a brother Walter and three grandchildren, Kelly James, Sarah Dorothy and Timothy Dean.
Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 14, at 11 a.m.
