Bowling team finishes third
TUKWILA, Wash. — Members of the Moses Lake High School boys bowling team competed against 39 of the top amateur bowling teams from across the state last month in the Washington State Bowling Proprietors’ Association (WSBPA) state championship tournament.
The two-day event held in Tukwila was the WSBPA’s 45th annual amateur state championship tournament.
The Moses Lake team finished the championship tournament with a third-place finish.
The Moses Lake team finished behind second-place Fife High School and tournament champion Wilson High School.
After the individual rounds, the Moses Lake team was sitting in the middle of the pack.
The Moses Lake team was able to capitalize on solid performances during the Baker rounds to make a push for the third-place finish.
Baker rounds are played when a five-member team competes in a single game. Each of the five members of the team bowls two frames, said bowling coach Billy Brice.
Brice said his team battled to finish third.
“They put up a good fight,” Brice said of his team’s jump in standings.
The Moses Lake boys team finished the tournament with 38 team points on their way to knocking down 9,348 total pins.
After finishing the tournament in third place, Moses Lake bowler Billy Brice Jr. was named to the WSPBA All-State boys team in the Division I category.
Brice Jr. finished the tournament with a 227 average.
The Moses Lake girls bowling team did not finish in the top six, however bowler Shanice Brice was named to the WSPBA All-State girls team with an average of 200.
