Celebrating Dr. Seuss

| March 4, 2009 8:00 PM

EPHRATA — Students at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss with several Seuss-inspired activities and kicked off their March reading program Monday.

The school released the information Tuesday afternoon.

Students, pre-school through sixth grade, made “Cat in the Hat” hats to wear and made Seuss-theme treats and crafts. Older students read books to younger students. They watched Dr. Seuss movies and read his books all day.

Some students also took a lesson from Dr. Seuss’ book “Oh the Places You’ll Go,” by writing about what they want to be when they grow up.

The day marked the beginning of Read Across America month, where students will collect pledges for each page they read. The student with the most pledges will get to throw pies at teachers during an assembly in April.
