| June 25, 2009 9:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — Karin C. Jenkins, 72, Moses Lake, died after she was struck by a truck on West Broadway Avenue Saturday afternoon.

The woman was crossing West Broadway Avenue in a designated pedestrian crosswalk, Moses Lake police Capt. Dave Ruffin stated Monday. She was crossing near Beech Street.

Kelly V. Hellewell, 35, Moses Lake, was traveling eastbound on West Broadway Avenue in a 2005 Ford F150 truck when he allegedly struck the woman.

Jenkins was transported to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment of head injuries, Ruffin said. Shortly after, she was taken to a medical facility in Spokane where she died from her injuries.

Citations were not issued because the collision caused a fatality, he said. The investigation is expected to take more time than a typical traffic accident.

It was not determined if speed was a factor. The posted speed limit is 30 mph.

The incident remains under investigation.
