Moses Lake outage due to fallen power line

| June 25, 2009 9:00 PM

MOSES LAKE – Approximately 1,700 to 1,800 electrical power accounts in Moses Lake were down starting at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday after one distribution line fell into another.

The affected distribution lines run from Pelican Point to Peninsula Drive, said Dorothy Harris, a Grant County PUD spokesperson.  It was unclear why the line fell down, she says.

The outage area included Pelican Horn, extended from Nelson Road to Pioneer Avenue, and to Penn Street. An area north of Pelican Horn up to Seventh Avenue was also affected.

Power for a good portion of the accounts was restored by about 7:50 p.m., but crews were still working on a remaining portion that included Ivy Avenue, Broadway Avenue and Alder Street, Harris commented.

The Columbia Basin Herald was affected by the power outage. The office on Third Avenue remained without power at 10 p.m.
