Marian L. Hudnall
Marian L. Hudnall, 64, passed away Saturday June 20, 2009, at her home, in Othello, with her loving family at her side.
Marian was born Dec. 31, 1944, in Longview, Wash., to James and Helen (Amos) Smith.
She lived in Longview, Wash., all of her growing up years. Marian graduated from R. A. Long High School in 1963. In 1963, she attended Lower Columbia Community College for two years. In 1965, she attended Washington State University, Pullman, Wash., where she earned her Bachelor of Science in 1967. Following WSU, she attended Central Washington State College, Ellensburg, Wash., graduating in 1970 with her Bachelor of Arts.
Marian met Dick Hudnall in Yakima, Wash., in the fall of 1970. After a whirlwind romance she and Dick were married June 26, 1971, in Longview, Wash. They were married for 37 years.
She began her teaching career in Manson, Wash., teaching there for two years before moving to Othello. Her next experience at teaching was in the Warden School District for two years. She then took a few years off to be a stay at home wife and mother. In the fall of 1987, Marian returned to teaching in the Othello School District. Her first and only school assignment was at Lutacaga, where she taught for 20 years. Marian retired in the spring of 2007.
A very creative person, Marian loved to make quilts. She also enjoyed caring for her flowers, especially the roses. Bike riding was on her list of many activities she liked to do.
Marian will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Her grandchildren were a highlight of her life.
Marian was a member of the Nazarene Church of Othello, Othello Education Association and Eastern Star, of which she was the Worthy Matron. She also sang in the Othello Choral and Orchestra Society Cantata and assisted with the Othello Crane Festival.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Margaret and brother Robert. She is remembered by her husband Dick, Othello; sons Jon (Sheila), Pasco, Wash.; Mike Stanwood, Seattle, Wash.; sister Cathryn Smith, Longview, Wash.; two grandchildren, one step-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Marian’s life will be held at the Nazarene Church of Othello on Friday, June 26, beginning at 11 a.m.
