QUINCY — A Royal City man died Monday afternoon due in a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Adams Road and state Route 28, three miles east of Quincy.

Federico Tolentinojuan, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Grant County Coroner’s Office took custody of the body. Grant County Fire District 3 used extraction tools to remove the driver’s side door to retrieve the deceased.

Tolentinojuan was traveling north on Adams Road in a 1995 Toyota Camry and allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Ron Sandberg. A 2004 Honda Pilot, traveling eastbound on the highway, collided with the driver’s side door of the Camry when the vehicle entered the roadway.

The Toyota came to a stop in a field several yards away from the collision site.

The Honda Pilot came to a stop on its side above a ditch along the highway. Several toys, clothing and vehicle parts were strewn around the SUV.

Sandberg said there were no passengers in the Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Honda Pilot, Maria D. Vasquez, 25, Ephrata, and her passengers, Alejandro Barajas, 27, Quincy, a 3-year-old Ephrata boy and a 5-year-old Ephrata boy were all taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. They were transported by passing motorists.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
