| June 19, 2009 9:00 PM

WENATCHEE — The Moses Lake Pirates were cruising toward their first victory of the season until the bottom of the 10th inning, when Wenatchee came back to take the lead and win 3-2.

Moses Lake lost the second consecutive extra-innings game to the Apple Sox. The previous game also after ten innings, but with a score of 9-8.

The game looked like a victory for Moses Lake pitcher Tony Smith. After eight innings, Smith allowed six hits and struck out nine batters, according to a spokesperson. It was the last two hits and a throwing error that gave Wenatchee the runs they needed to take the game away from the Pirates.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, a walk-off double by Ronnie Shaeffer scored Matt Moynihand from second base to give the lead to Wenatchee.

The Pirates runs came in the eighth and ninth innings while facing Wenatchee’s reliever Patrick Smith.

Moses Lake welcomes the Pirates home tonight at Larson Field, on Broadway Drive, to host the Spokane RiverHawks at 7:35 p.m.

Before the game, B Fest is taking place at the park. The motorcycle festival features activities and a show of motorcycles.
