Donald Eugene Mottaz

Donald Eugene Mottaz, of Moses Lake, went to be with his Lord Jesus June 11, 2009, at the age of 78.

Don was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Omaha, Neb., to the parents of Ethel and Arthur Mottaz. He graduated from Omaha Technical high school.

Don spent his life work on and interested in electronic equipment of all types. He spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was an engineer for Raytheon Corporation and Avco, traveling all over the United States. Don worked on various radar technologies for more than 20 years including the radar installation at Othello. He followed that for several years as part owner of the Radio Shack stores in Moses Lake and Ephrata. Don spent the last 20 years of his working life employed by the Grant County PUD. He retired in 1998 and devoted much of his spare time to teaching computer skills to hundreds at the Moses Lake Senior Center.

Don was a loyal friend, a dedicated worker, and a loving husband and father. He will be remembered for his strong will and independent nature. If it needed fixed, he could fix it. He loved watching the Mariners and was a Corn Husker at heart. He will be greatly missed by his family, church family, senior center friends, and others that he touched on his journey through life.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob, and granddaughter Stacey Jo Budd.

Don is survived by his wife Diane of 54 years, his sister Grace Vinzens of San Bernardino, Calif., his sons Donald Arthur Mottaz and his wife Sheri and family of Issaquah, Wash., Richard Randall Mottaz and his wife Sheila of Pasco, Wash., and daughter Patricia Anne Mullenix and her husband Robert and family of Ephrata, 11 grandchildren and two great-grand- children.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Moses Lake Assembly of God, 431 E. Brown Ave. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. You may sign the guest book or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com.
