World Series Task Force meets tonight

| June 10, 2009 9:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — Members of the Babe Ruth World Series Task Force will assemble tonight to discuss planning for the 2009 baseball tournament to be held at Larson Playfield Aug. 15 to Aug. 22.

With the 2009 16-18 Babe Ruth World Series less than nine weeks away, Babe Ruth World Series Tournament co-Director and Task Force Chairman Randy Boruff said participant housing is still a  priority.

Members of the Babe Ruth World Series Task Force still need approximately 14 homes to house out-of-town participants, said Housing co-Coordinator Eileen Martinez.

When Babe Ruth World Series planning began, Boruff said the task force needed to secure more than 80 homes.

Boruff said the task force still needs housing volunteers.

“We are still shooting for 81 homes,” he said.

While housing is still an important aspect of hosting a world series, Boruff said the task force is excelling in other areas of preparation.

Boruff said Babe Ruth World Series Task Force meetings are open to all who wish to help with the August tournament.

To volunteer to house a World Series participant, contact Eileen and Roger Martinez at 509-765-1052.

Advertising space is still available for the Babe Ruth World Series program.

Tonight’s Babe Ruth World Series Task Force meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express on East Kittleson in Moses Lake.
