Charles Robert Snyder

Charles Robert Snyder, 78, of Royal City, Washington, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 due to an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Royal City, Washington, at 11 a.m. on August 4, 2009.

Charles was born on December 26, 1930, to Harold and Mildred (Shepherd) Snyder of Shannon, Illinois. He spent his childhood in the Shannon and Freeport areas before graduating from Spring Harbor High School in Spring Harbor, Michigan.

Charles served his country in the Illinois National Guard before moving to Oregon with his family in 1951. Charles continued to serve in the Oregon National Guard and the United States Marine Corps. Charles married Evelyn Maude Lampman on July 22, 1955, and they settled on the family farm in Azalea, Oregon. To this union was born three sons: Mark, Paul and Timothy.

Charles was a firm believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock hounding and metal detecting. Charles enjoyed being with friends and talking with people. He operated service stations in southern Oregon before eventually settling in Lincoln City, Oregon where he operated Lincoln City Auto Clinic and Nelscott Garage until his retirement.

Charles is survived by his wife Evelyn Snyder of Moses Lake, Washington; his brother Eugene Snyder of Bend, Oregon; his son Paul Snyder of Lincoln City, Oregon; his son Rev. Tim and Sena Snyder of Royal City, Washington; his grandchildren Danny, Taysha and Zachary Snyder of Royal City, Washington and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his son Mark.
