Lorraine C. Williamson

Lorraine C. Williamson peacefully passed away on July 6, 2009.

She was born November 20, 1920, in Minnesota and moved with her husband Marvin to Washington state, where they made their home and raised their children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin B. Williamson, who passed away on January 2, 2005. He was born August 2, 1918, in Minnesota.

They are survived by three children, Marvin C. Williamson of Moses Lake, Melissa A. Simmons and her husband Roger of Ephrata, Douglas R. Williamson and his wife Terri of Moses Lake, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister Wauneata Gehrke in Montana, and a cousin Celeste Robertson in Florida.

After 4 years in the military, Marvin received an Honorable Discharge and came back to Minneapolis to begin working for the Twin City Rapid Transit streetcar company, where he met Lorraine. They were married in Chicago on December 15, 1947, and started their home. Marvin worked as a radio announcer in Chicago before beginning his career with the Milwaukee Railroad. They transferred out West and worked in Plummer, Idaho; Malden and Othello, Washington, and retired in Moses Lake in the mid 1970s. Lorraine worked for the Othello School District in the student lunch program. In 1979, Marvin and Lorraine were extras during the filming of “Why Would I Lie.” Marvin had a small part in the movie but Lorraine’s part ended up on the cutting room floor. They both worked for People for People in their transportation business and enjoyed many friends, square and round dancing and going to McDonald’s. They loved traveling and camping, making annual visits to Yellowstone National Park.
