Vivian Elaine Schell Hoffman
Vivian Elaine Schell Hoffman, 71, longtime Moses Lake resident, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, in Columbia Crest Care & Rehabilitation in Moses Lake.
Vi was born on February 12, 1938, to Bertha Bischoff Schell and Henry Schell.
She grew up in Ruff, where her father was a dry land farmer and her mother raised chickens and dairy cows. She went to school in Ritzville.
She leaves her husband of 42 years, Ron Hoffman and son, Danny, at the family home in Moses Lake, her brother and sister-in-law Jim and Linda Schell of Ruff, sister-in-law Linda Findlay and mother-in-law, Iris Hoffman both of Moses Lake. She also leaves two daughters, Vicky Strandberg, Donna Strand, and a son, Jim Schaffer. Vi was heartbroken to lose her youngest daughter, Peggy Sue Schaffer, in 1997. She cherished and enjoyed her eight grandchildren, Nicholas and Mathew Strandberg, Travis and Stephanie Elaine Watson, Ries Escure, Jessica Sue Moore, Tyler and Trevor Schaffer, and was delighted to welcome Travis’ wife Alison to the family.
She had many endeavors, managing at the 4 B’s restaurant, working at Kiyoji’s restaurant, and in the linen department at Samaritan Hospital. She loved to fish, garden, travel, and collect antique glassware. She loved her pets and was always willing to take in another cat or dog.
Graveside services will be July 27 at 1 p.m.at Moses Lake Cemetery with a lunch following at the Seventh-day Adventist School on Grape Drive at 2:30 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society.
