CHENEY, Wash. — The Moses Lake High School varsity cheerleading squad returned from the Universal Cheer and Dance Association cheer camp Monday with a first-place trophy.

The team competed in the four-day camp and competition at Eastern Washington University beginning last Friday and concluding Monday.

The team brought home their first-place trophy in the cheer competition and also won a trophy for being a superior camp squad. They also won six blue superior ribbons during the camp.

During the camp, the cheerleaders were asked to dress as heroes and the squad elected to dress as firefighters in shirts and hats donated by Grant County Fire District 5.

Moses Lake head cheerleading coach Mikey Carlile said the team has been preparing for the upcoming season.

“I have 17 girls on my team this year who have been working very hard all summer getting ready for football this fall,” Carlile said. “I would love (to thank) the fire district for supporting us.”
