MOSES LAKE — There were 12 reports of windows being shot and damaged in Moses Lake Monday.

The incidents were reported Monday but may have happened during the weekend, Moses Lake police reported.

Moses Lake police Capt. Dave Ruffin said there were problems in the past with people shooting pellet guns or BB guns at windows in Moses Lake.

“There’s no indication that it’s cyclic,” he said.

He said the last time there was an upswing of the activity was during either last spring or summer.

“We’re starting to have an increase in those,” Ruffin said. “We’re trying to provide some emphasis patrols out there.”

The shot windows are part of residential and business buildings.

There were nine reports of damaged windows from pellet guns or BB guns on West Broadway Avenue, one report on East Broadway Avenue, South Pioneer Way and South Division Street, according to a police report.

Three of the damaged windows reported on Monday, were also shot in previous incidents within the past two weeks.

Payless Shoe Source was shot at three times in the past two weeks, police reported. One incident lead to a window shattering at the business. It was boarded up and replaced.

No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to contact the Moses Lake Police Department at 509-766-9230.
