Edith B. Hussey

| July 21, 2009 9:00 PM

Edith B. Hussey died peacefully December 7, 2008, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Edith was born January 22, 1925, in Port Angeles, Washington, to Robert and Hattie Hamilton, the youngest of six children. She was raised in Seattle and graduated from Franklin High School.

She married Leon Ranlett Hussey March 22, 1946, and they lived in several locations including Klamath Falls, Oregon, Deary and Bovil, Idaho, and Walla Walla and Enumclaw, WA. They raised three children, Leon (Kip), Debi, and Coleen in a home filled with love and laughter. Edith was secretary to the Superintendent of Public Instruction in Walla Walla and retired from her position as secretary to the physicians at the Rainier School in Buckley, WA in 1985.

Leon and Edith moved to a home they built on a quiet lagoon in Moses Lake, and enjoyed 10 years of retirement together before Leon’s death in 1995. Edith enjoyed her life in Moses Lake by participating in the Creative Cutups Quilt Club, the Moses Lake Gleaner’s, and the First Church of the Nazarene. She loved her yard, garden, and orchard, as well as the Mariner’s, traveling, and spending time with her many friends and family. She was a consistent source of strength, kindness, wisdom, and love to her many friends and all of her family. We will remember many ocean trips and Salsa Weekends, with her at the center of the activities.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Jack Parkins, her children, Leon and Linda Hussey, Debi Maher, and Coleen Hussey-Delgado, her grandchildren Scott Hussey, Tad Hussey, Tyson Hussey, Erin and Corey Ross, Andrew Hamilton Maher, Patrick Maher and her great-granddaughter Zoe Belle Ross and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is set for 11 a.m, Saturday, July 25, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 422 South Balsam Street, Moses Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene or Hospice of Spokane.
