CB United 96 take second

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Some of the best youth soccer programs from throughout the Pacific Northwest competed at the Rainier Challenge Tournament last month in Puyallup, Wash.

The Columbia Basin (CB) United 96 girls U-13 youth soccer team competed against these soccer teams and returned to the Columbia Basin with a second-place finish.

CB United 96 opened the Rainier Challenge Tournament with a 4-0 victory over Greater Renton FC.

CB United 96 cruised to the victory thanks to goals from Navroop Jhutty, Alysha Overland, Hailey Berryman, and Kimmie Bennett.

The girls remained undefeated in their next game following a tie against a team from Portland, Ore.

CB United 96 got back to their winning ways during their third contest with a victory over  Cascade FC.

The win over Cascade FC put CB United 96 into the semifinals of the tournament against Emerald City FC.

Neither the CB United 96 girls nor Emerald City FC were able to score in regulation or overtime and the game went to a shoot out tied 0-0.

CB United 96 received goals from Kailey Crawford, Jaz Garcia, and Berryman in the shoot out to hold on to a 3-2 victory.

CB United 96 goalie Jeannette Alvarado earned the victory in the shoot out, recording two saves to give her team  the win.

Following the victory in the semifinals, CB United 96 advanced to the finals where they would face tournament host Washington Premier FC.

CB United 96 competed with Washington Premier FC before the host team eventually held on for a 2-0 victory.
