WARDEN — A Moses Lake man was arrested after allegedly entering a home near Warden, where he was met at gunpoint by the resident Saturday morning.

Venito Trujillo, 25, was arrested for residential burglary, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office records.

A woman living in the home called 9-1-1 and explained she heard someone breaking into her home on Road S Southeast, near Warden, Grant County Undersheriff John Turley said on Monday. The call was reported at about 2:40 a.m.

She advised she saw a Honda Accord pull into her driveway. The woman reported she recognized the vehicle as Trujillo’s, he said. She turned off the lights in the home and hid in her bedroom.

She accused Trujillo of knocking on the door and asking to be let in. She continued to hear noises around the home and then inside the home, Turley said. She stated Trujillo allegedly came into the bedroom where she was hiding in the dark.

Once the light was turned on, she reportedly stood up holding a firearm in his direction and told him to leave. The woman allegedly said she would shoot him if he did not leave.

Trujillo reportedly stated he was looking for a place to sleep and left shortly after the woman told him to leave.

No shots were fired and there were no injures.

Trujillo was contacted in the area of Road N where he was taken into custody.
