Moses Lake wins district title

EPHRATA — The Moses Lake 13-year-old Babe Ruth All-Star team cruised through the District 5/7 championship, qualifying for a spot in this month’s state championship tournament over the weekend.

Moses Lake cruised to an undefeated tournament, knocking off Ellensburg twice to earn a trip to the state championship tournament July 16 through July 19 in Anacortes, Wash.

Moses Lake began tournament play July 1 with a 4-3 win over the Othello 13-year-old All-Star team.

Moses Lake’s Chase Tunstall started the game on the mound, allowing one earned run on seven hits to record the victory.

Moses Lake continued to roll through the tournament on July 2 when pitcher Jacob Price controlled the game on the mound for Moses Lake in a 5-2 win over Ephrata.

Price struck out five batters in his complete-game victory.

Moses Lake continued to impress heading into their contest with Ellensburg on Friday.

Moses Lake trailed Ellensburg 9-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning before Jacob Williams recorded his third hit of the game, clearing the bases and propelling his team to a 10-9 comeback victory.

Relief pitcher Blake Springer got the win in Friday’s game.

With a 3-0 record, Moses Lake advanced to Saturday’s championship game against Ellensburg.

Colton Kelly recorded two hits and scored a pair of runs for Moses Lake on their way to a 7-5 victory.

Tunstall went four innings for Moses Lake and Brett Moser struck out four in three innings to earn the save in the championship game.
