Virginia Maxine Mitchell

Virginia Maxine Mitchell, age 87 of Issaquah (formerly of Moses Lake), passed away on Jan. 19, 2009, in Seattle.

Virginia was born on March 12, 1921, in Fort Morgan, Colo. She was raised and graduated from high school in Fort Morgan. On Jan. 14, 1940, she married James Russell Mitchell in Fort Morgan. She lived in Parker Heights, Wash., from 1946 to 1952, and Moses Lake from 1952 to 1980. She moved to Westport, Wash., in 1980. In 2007, she moved with her husband to Issaquah, Wash.

Virginia worked for Bank of America from 1945 to 1946 and for Peoples Bank from 1958 to 1961. She was a chief escrow officer for Chicago Title and Trust from 1961 to 1980. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a mothers advisor for Rainbow, and was awarded the Grand Cross.

Virginia was also a member of the South Beach Presbyterian Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, yard landscaping and houseplants, especially African violets.

Survivors include her husband James Russell Mitchell, of Issaquah, Wash.; sons Richard J. Mitchell, of Issaquah, Wash., Kirk T. Mitchell, of Puyallup, Wash.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Patricia Jean Njoroge.
