Ephrata Tigers maul Grandview

EPHRATA — The Ephrata Tigers wrestling team won seven matches by forfeit Tuesday night and 12 matches overall to knock off the Grandview Greyhounds 72-11.

The match began at 130 pounds and the Tigers got off to a fast start, taking a 30-0 lead before the referee blew the whistle. Grandview forfeited each of the first five matches before junior Chris Davidson stepped on the match at 160 pounds.

Davidson dominated Enrique Ochoa in their 160-pound bout, earning the pin in 1:46.

Ephrata took a commanding 42-0 lead when junior Robert Motkus pinned Jose Garza in 32 seconds.

The Tigers lost the first of two matches at 189 pounds when Adam Morales pinned Curtis Treiber in 47 seconds for a 42-6 Ephrata advantage.

Ephrata got back on the winning track at 215 pounds when sophomore Deion Ducksworth pinned Sebastian Ramirez in 48 seconds. Ducksworth’s victory gave the Tigers a 48-6 lead.

Freshman Mitchell Brown pinned Martin Torres in 1:36 at 285 pounds and Anthony Bush pinned Marcos Gonzalez in 3:23 to cap a 72-11 Ephrata rout.

Othello 42, Quincy 26

QUINCY — The Othello Huskies wrestling team capitalized on four forfeit victories and a 10-2 major decision from senior Jake Smith at 119 pounds to knock off Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) rival Quincy 42-26.

The Huskies won six consecutive matches Tuesday night and nine overall to improve to 5-2 in CWAC competition.
